LGBTQIA+ people are 6-9x more likely to be diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) than their cisgender, heterosexual peers. LGBTQIA+ people experience unique identify-based stressors that may impact the development, severity, and maintenance of OCD. However, to date, current theories of OCD neglect to consider the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ people with OCD.
